It’s that time of year again where I make up for all the blogging I didn’t do throughout the year. :) So grateful for this work. What an honor and a joy it is to meet such beautiful people and immerse myself in their love. This is what I want to shoot more of: people loving each other well.

Best of 2021

One major lesson from 2021 is that my time is finite. I served 86 clients last year, which is far too many. I said yes to almost every opportunity, and in doing so had to (at times) say no to my family, my health, and my sanity. I really love this work, but I love those three things more. 2022 is going to be about recognizing my limitations, setting better boundaries, and sticking to them.

Oregon Coast

Oregon Coast, you sure are pretty. This trip wasn’t without its challenges and disappointments, but it’s exactly what we needed: time together in nature. It’s so hard to get enough time all together at home with work and house projects and bedtimes. The weather posed some challenges—and we didn’t get as much beach time as we would have liked—but I do think we made the most of it. Our kid is such a trooper, which makes it all possible.

My sweet girl,

You only gave me three and a half minutes in the garden. And I didn’t think we got anything good, but when I went through the photos I realized that they perfectly capture you in this moment. You are silly and witty and enthusiastic and wiggly and smart and social. You are a total ham and we love you.

Time Capsule

Same room, same unmade bed, three and a half years apart.

I never shared the photo of me and 3-month-old Ella. I thought I looked tired. Of course I looked tired—I was tired. But I’m glad I saved it for this comparison. It’s amazing how over time (or in conjunction with another photo) an image can become more meaningful.
