Christmas came early—in the form of a 460 square foot primary bedroom and bathroom addition (with walk-in closet/office). It feels a bit ridiculous adding three beautiful new rooms onto our home in the middle of a pandemic. But it has also been a welcome distraction and I am proud of the design. We are really happy with how it turned out. Thank you to Angela Stone for some early layout recommendations and to our contractor, Shaun Ferrell, for executing my vision so beautifully.

Some backstory: In early 2019 we felt like we were outgrowing our home. We were having a hard time imagining sharing a bathroom with Ella once she was a teenager and so we started house hunting. Every house we looked at was at the top of our budget and still needed a ton of work—and every time we came home to our little house we felt happy and relieved to be here. We loved our location, we loved our lot, we loved our neighbors, we loved the old charm of our 1880s Victorian. So we decided to build.

In August 2019 we hired an architect, in February 2020 we refinanced, and in July we broke ground. We moved in the weekend before Thanksgiving.

I haven’t hung any photos yet, but I am very excited to have two whole walls that will be dedicated to my future gallery. Stay tuned!
