I envisioned these photos for months before we took them. And of course they turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined. They always do.
When Johanna first contacted me about shooting engagement photos on the Mendocino coast I was really excited. I met these two at the Dead on the Creek music festival two years ago (they help run the kitchen crew) and they are the best kind of people. Real and hard working and interesting and fun and kind. We spent the night before at Johanna's grandma's cabin in Cleone. We drank beers and ate fish tacos and laughed a lot.
Though excruciatingly beautiful, it was a very cold day on the coast. Chris and Johanna were such troopers. The clouds threatened rain all afternoon, and finally broke just when we lost the light and were packing out of Big River.
I can't wait until their wedding in June, no doubt it will be beautiful beyond words.
